Recipe FAQs

Can you substitute turkey for beef in chili?

Absolutely! You can use turkey in our beef chili recipe for a delicious meal. Or, if you have leftover turkey meat, chop it up and use it in this recipe instead of using ground turkey. Either way, it is still yummy.

What kind of beans goes in chili?

Our top two favorites are kidney and black beans. However, you can easily substitute your favorite beans into the recipe. Pinto and Great Northern would work well.

Does ground turkey have to cook longer than ground beef?

No, ground turkey does not need to cook longer than ground beef. It is a leaner type of meat, so it will actually cook faster. If ground turkey is cooked for too long, it will become dry and tough, which is no good!

Get Kids Involved

Ages 2-3: Let your little one help add in the seasonings. There are quite a few, so they will have fun with this task.

Ages 4-5:Have your child pour the ingredients into the pot. Let him/her mix them before bringing them to a boil.

Ages 6-8: Teach your child how to brown the turkey. They can easily use a meat masher for this step.

Ages 9-11: Supervise them while they prepare the entire recipe. Remember to have them read it twice before beginning the recipe.

Ages 12+: Let them prepare the entire recipe, unsupervised, while you do the happy dance in the corner!
